(P + Q + R)'s 1 day's work = 1/3

 

P's 1 day's work = 1/15

Q's 1 day's work = 1/ 9

 

R's 1 day's work = 1/3 - ( 1/15 + 1/9 )

= 7/45

So, R alone can do the work in 45/7

P’s 1 day work = 1/10

Q’s 1 day work = 1/25

(P + Q)’s 1 day work = 1/10 + 1/25

(P + Q)’s 5 day work = 5 ( 1/10 + 1/25 )

= 7/10

Remaining work = 1 - 7/10

= 3/10

A's 1 day work= 1/12, B`s 1 day work = 1/15

∴ (A+B) 1 day work = (1/12+1/15) = 3/20

Both cooperating can complete it in 20/3 days

(P+Q)'s 1 day work = 1/15, P's 1 day work =1/36

∴ Q's 1 day work = (1/15 -1/36) = 7/180 = 7 / 180

Henceforth, Q alone can lay railway track in 180/7 days.

 

(P+Q)'s 5 days work = 5(1/40+1/10) = (5*5/40) = 25 / 40 = 5/8

Remaining work = (1- 5/8) = 3/8

1/10 work is finished by Q in 1 day

3/8 work is finished by Q in ( 10*3/8) = 30/8 = 15/4 days

(P+Q)'s 1 day work = 1/10,

(Q+R)'s 1 day work = 1/16,

(R+P)'s 1 day work = 1/24

Including: 2(P+Q+R)'s 1 day work = (1/10+ 1/16+ 1/24)= 49/240

∴ (P+Q+R) `s 1 day work = (1/2 *49/240) = 49/480

∴ working together they can complete the work in 480/49 days.

P's 1 day work = (P+Q+R) `s 1 day work - (Q+R)'s 1 day work

(49/480 - 1/16) = 19/480

 

Therefore, P alone can complete the work in 480/19 days

Ie 25.26 days approx

P's 1 days work = 1/20,

Q's 1 day work = 1/25,

Proportion of their shares = 1/20:1/25 = 5:4

Q's offer = (9000*4/9) = Rs. 4000

(P+Q)'s 5 days work = 4(1/4+ 1/8)= (2* 3/8)= 3/4

Remaining work = (1-3/4) = 1/4

R's 3 days work = 1/4

(P's 4 day work): (Q's 4 day work): (R's 3 days work)

= 4/4: 4/8: 1/4

= 4: 2: 1

P's offer = (4900*4/7) = Rs. 2800

Q's offer = (4900*2/7) = Rs. 1400

R's share= (4900*1/7) = Rs. 700

 

P's 1-hour work = 1/9, Q's 1-hour work =  1/36

(P+Q)'s 1 hour work =  (1/9 +1/36) = 5/36

Hence, P and Q together can finish it in 36/5 hours = 7.2 hours
