Let the incomes of Arushi and bhavana be 3y and 4y.

If each saves Rs. 100 per month, then their expenditures = Income - savings = (3y - 100) and (4y - 100).

 

The ratio of their expenditures is given as 1 : 2.

Therefore, (3y - 100) : (4y - 100) = 1 : 2

Solving, We get y = 50. Substitute this value of y in 3y and 4y.

Let their ages be 10x and 5x respectively.

Given, the product of their age is 2850.

10x \times 5x = 2850

x^{2} = 57

x = 7.5

Sonia’s present age = 5 × 7.5 = 37.5

Given: The ratio of cups of fruit :cups of milk in a drink recipe is 9:4

 The  restaurant uses 36 cups of fruit.

Let the the restaurant uses y cups of milk

As the ratio of cups of fruit and milk remains constant in the recipe,

9/4 = 36/y

9 x y = 4x 36

9 x y = 144

Y = 144/9

Y = 16

Jeena receives 2 shares more than Reena, so 2 shares is equal to 12.

Therefore 1 share is equal to 6. Reena receives 5 shares: 5 × 6 = 30.

The no. of  girls  walk, cycle or drive to the company office in the ratio of 2:1:4. 

We have been given one part so we can work this out using equivalent ratios.

If we multiply all terms of the ratio by the same number then the ratio remains constant

4x(2 :1 : 4) = 8: 4 : 16

Initially the ratio was 3:4 so,

Let  Lily get Rs 3y and Bob get Rs 4y. Bob then gave away Rs 40 so he had Rs (4y-40).

 

The new ratio is 3y:4y-40 and this is equal to the ratio 6:7.

 

Since 3y:4y-40 is equivalent to 6:7,

 7 times of 3y must be equal to 6 times of 4y-40.

7 x 3y = 6 x ( 4y - 40)

21y = 24y - 240

3y = 240

Y = 80

The initial amounts were 3y:4y.

 y is 80 so lily  received Rs 240 and Bob received Rs 320.

 

The total amount won was Rs 560.

The monthly budget is found by:

25200/12 = 2100

which for 3 months is a budget of:

2100 x 3 = 6300

To find out how much they are over budget the budgeted amount is subtracted from the actual expenses. 

7420 - 6300 = 1120

Total number of people = 30.

 Let the number of people who like Muffins = 2y and the number of people who like Sushi = 3y. We can say that 2y + 3y = 30 ⇒ 5y = 30 ⇒ y = 6. 

Putting the value of y, we get: the numbers of people who like Muffins = 2y = 12
