eLitmus Cryptarithmetic Syllabus

This is a very-very important sub-section of the logical reasoning part, there will be about 4 to 5 Cryptarithmetic Questions in the exam and those will be difficult to solve. If you are able to solve these questions successfully then you will be able to increase your percentile by about 40%.

eLitmus is one of India’s largest assessment and recruitment company. What is eLitmus pH Test?

The assessment test conducted by eLitmus is called as the pH test or hiring potential test. The tests cover all the topics that are given importance to by most of the developing companies and these tests also help the candidates to analyze their skills better.

Each section contains about 20 questions and the overall test is for 600 marks. You can check the upcoming dates on of eLitmus written test on their official website – eLitmus website. The results of the eLitmus exam are presented as a percentile. The percentile is based on where you stand among the students who took the test in the last 2 years from the date you took the test.

Now read this very carefully for eLitmus Aptitude Syllabus. They used to have this negative marking rule of -10 negative marking rule for each question of earlier and some websites still show that it exists in 2018. But, the -10 negative marking rule for each question isn’t there anymore. We contacted eLitmus directly and they said it will not be there in the future.

eLitmus Eligibility Criteria

There is no eligibility criterion as such for an eLitmus exam. It is recommended that a student looks at what companies are hiring at any point of time and then take the test. Mostly companies that hire through eLitmus look for candidates from BE/B.Tech, MCA, ME/Mtech or M.Sc (CS/IT/Electronics). Additionally, they may ask for minimum marks or grades. The eLitmus eligibility criteria are mentioned for each job opening separately.

Negative Marking Rule

New eLitmus Negative Marking Rule – Now Negative marking starts after 25% of the attempted questions turn out to be wrong. For e.g. If you have attempted 16 questions then the total number of wrong answers you are allowed is 4. If you get less than 4 questions wrong, then there will be no negative marking. If you get 10 wrong, then 6 of them will draw a negative mark of 50% each. Each section is treated independently for negative marking.

Old eLitmus Negative Marking Rule(Some website still show this old Rule) – 

  • There will be -10 Negative Marking for each wrong question.
  • Even if you do 1 question wrong you will get -10 for that question.
  • No negative marks for unattempted eLitmus questions.
  1. If you have any unattempted questions then there will be negative marking.
  2. A student may choose to attempt the eLitmus test as many numbers of times he/she wants.
  3. Companies will not get to see how many times you have attempted the elitmus test.
  4. Your latest score – be it lower or higher than previous attempts will be considered.

WHAT SCORE OR PERCENTILE IS GOOD IN ELITMUS SO THAT I CAN EXPECT GETTING CALLS FROM DIFFERENT COMPANIES?

eLitmus test is more logic & application-based, rather than memory. Hence, the paper is slightly on the tougher side compared to CoCubes. Based on the previous eLitmus papers, here’s a look at commonly asked topics in the order of importance. We have decided on the importance of particular topics based on the frequency in which it occurred in each of the previous eLitmus papers. The eLitmus syllabus is as follows.

  • To be honest, you must at least score 80% in all the sections for off campus hiring and 75% in on Campus hiring to get called by companies for Interviews.
  • Even if you score 99% in two sections but score less than 75% in any one. Generally, it is seen that one doesn’t get calls or gets very few.
  • Thus you must score more than 80% in all the sections.

HOW MANY MONTHS IS ENOUGH TO PREPARE FOR ELITMUS?

At least two months. I will say since

  • The exam is very tough.
  • There is a lot of competition and it percentile-based test

There is no specific book for eLitmus Aptitude Syllabus. You should buy Arun Sharma books for Quants, Logical and Verbal and it is a must buy to do general eLitmus preparation.

Which are the companies that hire throught eLitmus?

There are a lot, to be honest. Companies like Accenture, Samsung, Maruti Suzuki, Dell, Amazon, etc. You can check list of all companies that hire here.

eLitmus is definitely worth to give if you’re not having any job. But you must give proper dedication and time to be able to do so. No one can score a good percentile in eLitmus with a week’s study. A month at least should be given for preparation.

  • I appeared for the test on December 10th ,2018 in New Delhi.
  • Test Duration: 2hrs.
The examination’s difficulty level is medium to hard thus people usually don’t score high in this examination.

The examination was offline and had three sections:

Quantitative Aptitude: 4 questions were from Geometry and 4 from Number systems, around 5-6 questions were from permutation, combination and probability and remaining questions were from basic arithmetic topics like ratio and proportion ,profit and loss, etc. The level of questions in this section was medium. This section will be very easy for the students who have strong class 10th mathematics concepts . I attempted 12 questions in this section, my score in this section was 75.00 and my percentile was 97.49.

Problem Solving: 3 questions were from cryptarithmetics, 3 from data interpretation and 3 from from Data sufficiency 4 from logical reasoning and rest of the questions were from random topics. The cryptarithmetic ,data sufficiency and data interpretation problems were very time taking. So I chose to attempt Data interpretation and Data sufficiency ones. Logical reasoning questions were easy . I attempted 12 questions in this section. My score was 93.75 and my Percentile was 99.54.

Verbal: This is the easiest and the most scoring section of elitmus. 6 Questions were from Grammar and did not take any time to solve. Remaining questions were paragraph type and each paragraph had around 3 questions to it. So even though I had 5 minutes left to solve this section I was able to get a decent score in this section. My score was 63.75 and my percentile was 69.34

Try to score as much as possible in Verbal Section as it will boost your score. Try not to waste your time on time taking problems and impart maximum time for Problem Solving section as it is the toughest . Try to get a balanced score with good percentile in all the sections , if you have time left then dedicate it to Problem Solving as this section’s score is the criterion for a lot of companies’ shortlisting.

My final score was 232.5
